The Whole Mystery of the Beehive
The bee is really alone in...renouncing an individual sex life and instead becoming a bearer of love. Bees indeed carry into the hive what lives in the flowers. If you really begin to think this through you can uncover the whole mystery of the beehive. The life of this sprouting, thriving love that is spread over the flowers is then also contained in the honey...Nothing is better for human beings than to add the right amount of honey to their food. In a marvellous way the bee really sees to it that we learn to use our soul to work upon our bodily organs. By means of honey the beehive gives us what we need to ensure our soul works industriously on our body. When we add honey to our meal we prepare the soul to work and breathe properly in the body. Beekeeping is therefore something that contributes very significantly to civilization, because it strengthens us...When we look at a beehive we should say to ourselves, with something akin to exaltation, that the whole universe enters us through the beehive, and makes us more capable human beings.
